Our story
This is Benno. Benno is a Bernese Mountain Dog who spontaneously developed bladder cancer at the age of 7.
The only available treatment turned out to be chemotherapy and radiation, but that would mean Benno couldn’t stay at home (chemo is not only impactful but also toxic to household members).
The treating veterinarian, Arno Roos, learned about CimCure’s initiative to test a human drug in development on dogs with cancer. With this experimental treatment, Benno ultimately lived for over 10 years and passed away due to old age.
This inspired us to further develop this technique specifically for pets. As a tribute to our first dog, our company is named after Benno.
